The Taman Peninggalan Kerajaan Sriwijaya (TPKS)  covered an area of 20 Ha plot, located at Karang Anyar village.

Since archeologocal researchs and excavation began in 1984, many relics have been found that seem to confirm that the Sriwijaya Kingdom was, at least at some extent, centered at Palembang, proven with remains found such as remains of brick buildings, ship rudders, ceramics, beads and much much more.

The TPKS is surrounded by canals which connects to the Musi River right in front of the park. Many artifacts have been taken from this canal since the exvacation began. Relating this to the remnants of brick buildings, it seems quite logical that the center of Sriwijaya Empire, a great maritim empire at its era, may have been located here.
